Jun 19 Ryan putting real bat to real baseball

Ryan has been swatting whiffle balls thrown at him since just after he started walking. But this was his first year (with Sean) to play in an official league at Skiles Test. Here’s a double hit in this coach-pitched league.

May 6 Ryan’s First Communion

Maybe only of interest to our Catholic friends, but a big time event for us and our youngest at St. Matthew School. Thanks to Sean for lots of video footage that day and this snippet that seemed suitably presentable, if not entirely ecumenical. Fast forward to 3:20 for Ryan’s shot!

Apr 16 Simple, complicated fun at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum

We’ve been members of the Children’s Museum for years, and the 4th floor is the boys’ favorite spot. See here. Ryan and Sean team up here to prepare a feast of motion with a device that is as captivating just to watch as I’m sure it was to design!

Mar 10 Ice fishing sans fish

Every year I commit to going fishing with the boys. We don’t always catch much, but we try give it a good effort. This unusually warm late winter day seemed ideal to tempt those fish made ravenous from a winter’s enforced fast. The only problem was that the ice coating hadn’t broken up yet. So, why not make some holes in the ice with big rocks and watch the bubbles. Sean wields the video camera.
